Santa Fe composer Dominic Frontiere used musicians from Bobby Shew's Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra to record two songs for the upcoming Broadway stage comedy, "Viagra Falls." Frontiere, who is a Golden Globe and Emmy winner and former director of Paramount Pictures Music, was hired by CRC Productions producer Mike Carrazza, who has partnered with the James Nederlander Corporation to produce "Viagra Falls" for an early summer opening. The songs were recorded in February at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque using a total of 18 musicians from the Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra under the supervision of Roy Rogosin. Other music community members assisting with the production included Grandma's Music and Sound, Sennheiser USA and the New Mexico Music Commission. Grammy nominee and Albuquerque native Bobby Shew helped to coordinate the project.
In addition to his Broadway work, Frontiere also promotes local music talent to the state's burgeoning film industry. |
